How to get a Florida broker license

What does “two of the last five years” mean?

Florida law recognizes an active sales associate license for at least 24 months within the preceding five years under one or more brokers in Florida or another qualifying jurisdiction. It also describes certain government-agency experience and an out-of-state broker-license path. Merely holding an inactive license for two calendar years does not describe the usual sales-associate path.

If you claim experience from another state or jurisdiction, DBPR requests a current certification of license history documenting it. A person licensed as a Florida sales associate in the preceding five years must also complete the applicable sales post-licensing education before broker licensure. Your broker path

Course 2 and Broker FastPass

Approval and Pearson

Apply while you study if that timing helps. Once DBPR approves your broker application and you are exam eligible, use the authorization details to schedule the Florida Broker exam with Pearson. The official Florida Real Estate program page serves both sales and broker candidates; select Broker during scheduling.

The broker candidate booklet says an expired certificate will not be accepted even if exam authorization is still valid. Read the certificate and exam guide.

Course access and state deadlines

Daniel Larson Training’s broker course bundles provide one year of online access; that is the school’s access term. Under Florida Statutes §475.181(2), your broker prelicense course completion counts for licensing for two years from completion, and your application expires two years after DBPR receives it if you have not passed the exam. DBPR says exam authorization lasts two years from approval. Each date belongs to a different step.

After the broker exam

A new Florida broker’s first renewal generally requires 60 hours of broker Post-Licensing; later renewals generally use 14-hour CE. Compare Post and CE.
