The short answer

At your first sales associate renewal, Florida generally requires 45-hour sales Post-Licensing. At your first broker renewal, it generally requires 60-hour broker Post-Licensing. At later renewals, active licensees generally take 14-hour continuing education.

The words “Post” and “CE” both refer to education, but they belong to different stages. Before choosing a course, look up your license type, status, and expiration date in your DBPR online account. DBPR’s record—not the date you happen to remember passing the exam—is the place to confirm your renewal deadline.

If your record shows another status, you hold more than one license type, or you think an exemption applies, check the DBPR real estate guidance for your situation before enrolling.

When might my first renewal be?

Enter the issue date of the Florida license you’re renewing, not the day you applied or finished school. If you upgraded from sales associate to broker, use your broker license date for the broker timeline. We’ll estimate the first March 31 or September 30 renewal date on or before the second anniversary. If you know the expiration date shown in your DBPR record, enter it too; it takes precedence.

The calculated dates are a planning estimate. Use the expiration date and requirements in your DBPR license record for your actual renewal. This tool assumes an ordinary first license and an active, timely renewal; it does not determine exemptions, extensions, inactive status, or special cases. Education and payment of the renewal fee are separate steps.

Why the first renewal is different

Florida treats the initial renewal as the next stage of your education. A new sales associate completes 45 hours of approved Post-Licensing; a new broker completes 60 hours. DBPR says these must be completed before the initial expiration date listed on the license. The education and renewal fee are separate requirements.

Course 1 is not your Post-Licensing course

The 63-hour sales pre-license course gets you ready to qualify for the sales associate exam. The 45-hour sales Post course belongs to the first renewal after licensure. If you are still at the beginning, follow the sales licensing roadmap.

What changes after Post-Licensing?

For current active licensees past their Post-Licensing stage, DBPR lists 14 hours of continuing education for renewal: 3 hours Core Law, 3 hours Ethics and Business Practices, and 8 hours specialty education. These components are included in a properly approved 14-hour combination course. Take care to confirm which cycle you are in and whether DBPR has recorded course completions before you submit the separate license renewal.

Daniel Larson Training offers both sales and broker Post-Licensing and 14-hour CE. The right choice depends on your DBPR record, not on which course sounds shorter.

Questions licensees ask

Can I take 14-hour CE instead of first-renewal Post?

Ordinarily, no. DBPR identifies Post-Licensing as the education for the first renewal and 14-hour CE for the later active-license renewal stage. Confirm any personal exemption directly with DBPR.

Does finishing the education renew my license automatically?

No. The school reports completed education; you still need to complete the separate license renewal and fee requirements through DBPR.

How can I tell whether this is my first renewal?

Check the license history, status, education requirements, and expiration date in your DBPR online account. If the record is confusing, ask Daniel before buying a course.
